Piene, Otto. More sky. Cambridge, Massachusetts, London, MIT Press (1973). 4°. 237 S. mit teils farbigen Abbildungen. Farbig illustr. Orig.-Kartonumschlag.

– Sehr gutes Exemplar.
Inscribed by Otto Piene, dated ‘VIII. 11-78’. – A manifesto for Piene’s so-called ‘Sky Art’ – works of art realised in harmony with nature within the dimensions of the sky. Originally published in 1970 as a ring binder and in 1973 as an expanded book, ‘More Sky’ is regarded as Piene’s first comprehensive compendium following his time in the German ZERO movement. From 17 July to 31 August 2014, the Neue Nationalgalerie and the Deutsche Bank KunstHalle presented ‘Otto Piene. More Sky’, a highly acclaimed retrospective of his early and late work. On the evening of 19 July 2014, thousands of visitors gathered in front of the Neue Nationalgalerie. Despite initial problems with the wind, around midnight three illuminated, star-shaped aerial sculptures, each up to 90 metres high, rose above the museum’s roof into the Berlin night sky. The event marked the culmination of a lifetime’s work. Otto Piene passed away unexpectedly on 17 July 2014 at the age of 86 – on the very day the exhibition opened and just two days before his final grand celestial spectacle. – A very fine copy.
