The graphic originality and novelty of the cover make an impression straightaway; the two words of the title, „Formes“ and „nues“, are arranged along two diagonal lines, which lend a powerful dynamism to Man Ray’s photograph. In addition, this was the first work to present the male nudes of Platt Lynes. … What is striking about Herbert List’s male nude is the naturalness with which the photographer has captured the power of a black body next to a giant agave plant“ (A.
