A world where all property is held in common, where only six hours a day are devoted to work, where gold and silver are used for everyday household purposes, and where slaves (criminals and prisoners of war) are treated fairly, a world protected by the right to live together in peace. The famous novel by Thomas More (1478–1535), first published in Leuven in 1516, describes a distant ideal society and establishes the genre of social utopia. Stained in places and slightly brown-spotted, a beautiful decorative bound copy.
