Koppitz – Junk, Rud. Koppitz

Koppitz - Junk, Rud. Koppitz

Koppitz – Junk, Rudolf (Einleitung). Rud(olf) Koppitz. (Herausgegeben von Josef Gottschammel und Rudolf Hans Hammer). Wien, Verlag Josef Gottschammel „Die Galerie“ und Worcester, Torino, Meppel und Kobe (1937). Gr.-4° (31,5 x 30 cm.). [4] Bl. und 24 Tafeln in Heliogravure. Orig.-Halbleinenband. (Meisterbücher der Photographie, Band 3).

Auer 251. Heidtmann 10548.
The only edition of the first monograph on the Austrian late pictorialist R. Koppitz (1884-1936), “the most important of the forgotten Austrian camera artists before 1930” (H.-M. Koetzle). „Symbolism and documentary approaches, ‘blurred’ bromoil prints and precise bromide silver prints, family idylls and trenches, naked dancers and furrowed farmers’ faces seem to be diametrically opposed to one another. [..] Rudolf Koppitz never belonged to the ‘avant-garde’ at any stage of his career—and until recently, this was one of the prerequisites for any engagement with art-historical material […]“ (Monika Faber in Koetzle). – Cover only slightly dusty, very good copy.
